Nova

Nova docs

Everything Nova can do and how to set it up. Most things are switched on and changed from the dashboard: no command codes to learn.

Getting started

  1. Invite Nova from the homepage and pick your server. Keep the permissions it asks for, or features like tickets and logs can't work.
  2. Run /setup in your server. Tick what you want (logs, welcome cards, auto-mod, levels, weekly recap) and press Set it up. Done in a few seconds.
  3. Open the dashboard (/dashboard or the button on the site) to fine-tune everything: tickets, branding, AI and the rest.
  4. Move Nova's role up in Server Settings → Roles, above any roles it should give out (levels, reaction roles, join roles). Discord only lets bots manage roles below their own.
Tip: /help shows every command grouped into categories, and members can click a command to use it.

The dashboard

Log in with Discord at /dashboard. You'll see every server where you have Manage Server. Pick one and use the sidebar to open each module.

  • Each module has an on/off switch at the top. Turning one off keeps its settings.
  • Change something and a "You have unsaved changes" bar appears at the bottom. Press Save changes. If it can't save, it tells you why.
  • Previews on the right show what members will see in Discord as you type.
  • Press Ctrl + K to jump to any page.
  • Settings → Dashboard access lets you give staff roles access without Manage Server.

Tickets

Private support channels that members open from a panel. Dashboard → Tickets.

1. Ticket types

A type is a kind of ticket, for example General Support, Gang Application or Staff Application. Each has a name, emoji, category (where channels are created), staff roles (tap to pick: who can see, claim and close it), how many one person can have open, and up to 5 questions asked before the ticket opens.

2. Panels

The message members click to open a ticket. In Panels you set:

  • Title and message: Discord formatting works: **bold**, ### heading, > quote bar, - list.
  • Show as coloured buttons or a dropdown, with your own dropdown text.
  • Panel look: author line, colour, thumbnail (logo), big banner image or GIF, footer. See Making it look yours.

Press Post panel. Use Edit on a posted panel to change it; it re-posts itself.

Inside a ticket

  • Claim marks who's handling it. Close asks for a reason, saves a transcript, DMs it to the member, and deletes the channel.
  • Staff commands: /ticket priority, /ticket add, /ticket remove, /ticket rename, /ticket close.
  • Transcripts are posted to your transcript channel (Settings) and viewable on the dashboard.

Staff & ratings tab

  • Ratings: after closing, members get a ⭐ 1–5 DM. Ratings show in your transcript channel and on the leaderboard.
  • Staff leaderboard: claimed, closed, average first reply time and average rating per staff member.
  • Auto-close: quiet tickets get a "closing soon" warning with a Keep it open button, then close an hour later.

Ask Nova (AI)

Members ask questions with /ask or by @mentioning Nova, and get instant answers about your server. Dashboard → Ask Nova.

  • Knowledge: paste rules, FAQs, how to join jobs, connect info and store links. She answers server questions only from this, your documents, learned answers and your server's channels and roles.
  • General questions on = she also helps with anything (facts, maths, advice). Off = server questions only.
  • Personality: friendly, professional or playful.
  • Chat mode: a channel where people can just talk to her. If someone mentions self-harm she responds with care, shares helplines and alerts your safety channel.
  • Limits: answers per person per day, staff unlimited, extra answers for premium roles, or charge economy coins per question.
  • Try it box: test answers on the dashboard without using anyone's limit.
AI key: Nova comes with one built in. Busy servers can add their own free Gemini key from Google AI Studio on the same page (stored encrypted).

AI in tickets

Turn on Tickets → Staff & ratings → ✨ Nova answers first. Then:

  1. A member opens a ticket. Staff are not pinged yet.
  2. Nova replies like a staff member would, from your knowledge. Her latest reply has ✅ That solved it and 🙋 Talk to a person.
  3. She hands over and pings your staff roles when the member asks for a person, types things like "staff" or "human", the issue needs a human (bans, payments, refunds, accounts), or after 5 replies.
  4. As soon as any staff member types in the ticket, she goes quiet for good.
Simple questions get answered instantly at any hour, and your staff only see the tickets that really need them.

Documents & learning

Documents

On the Ask Nova page, drop in PDFs, text files, CSVs or images (screenshots of rules work), or paste a web page link (rules page, store, a public Google Doc). Nova reads them and uses them to answer. Word files: save as PDF first. Remove a document and she forgets it.

Learning from staff

When a ticket closes, Nova reads how your staff answered and suggests up to 3 reusable answers. They appear under Learned from your staff where you can edit, approve or remove them. Only approved answers are used. Personal things (bans, payments, specific players) are skipped automatically.

Leave Use learned answers straight away off unless you trust every staff answer. Approving keeps her accurate.

Moderation & AutoMod

  • /warn, /timeout, /kick, /ban, /tempban, /unban, /purge, /lockdown. Every action becomes a numbered case (/cases), with notes (/note).
  • Escalation rules: e.g. 3 warnings in 7 days = 1 hour timeout, automatically.
  • Appeals: banned members get a link to appeal; you review them on the dashboard.
  • AutoMod: blocks invite links, spam, mass mentions, caps, links (with an allow list) and banned words. Choose delete, warn or timeout, and exempt roles or channels.

Logging

A private log channel recording what happens, with clean cards showing who, where and when. Choose which kinds to log:

MessagesEdits (before/after), deletes, purges, with a jump link
MembersJoins (new-account warning), leaves, kicks, nicknames, boosts
ModerationBans, unbans and timeouts, with who did it and why
RolesRoles given or removed, and role edits including permissions
ChannelsCreated, deleted, renamed and topic changes
VoiceJoins, leaves and moves
Nova needs View Audit Log to show who did something.

Security & verification

  • Verification: a Verify button (optionally with a captcha) that gives a role, so raiders and bots can't see the server.
  • Anti-raid: spots join floods and can lock the server down.
  • Role persistence: members get their roles and nickname back if they leave and rejoin, so nobody dodges a jail or mute role.
  • Server sync: share bans across your linked servers.

Welcome & goodbye

  • Welcome image card: centred, or avatar on the left with your own heading (e.g. {name} has flown in) and coloured sub-line (to {server}).
  • Background: your own art (paste a link), or the server banner. Blur on or off, and your accent colour.
  • Welcome embed look: title, message, thumbnail, colour, author, footer (e.g. The {count_ord} Member.) and time.
  • Welcome DM and goodbye message, which has its own embed look too.
  • Press Send test to see it for real.

Roles

  • Reaction roles: button panels where members pick their own roles (single or multiple choice).
  • Join roles: given to every new member (separate roles for bots), with an optional delay.
  • Level rewards: roles given at certain levels (see below).
  • /temprole: give a role for a set time.

Music

  • /play a song name (searches SoundCloud), a SoundCloud link or playlist, or any direct audio link.
  • /radio thousands of live stations: type a genre or station like lofi or capital.
  • /music skip, pause, queue, volume, loop, shuffle, remove, clear and 24/7 mode.
  • A now-playing panel with artwork, a progress bar and buttons. Control it from the dashboard too.
  • DJ role (optional): only these people can skip or stop other people's songs.
YouTube and Spotify links aren't supported. Their rules forbid it, and bots that use them get shut down.

Weekly recap

Every Monday morning Nova posts a card with the past week: messages and chatters, new members (and whether you grew), voice hours, tickets, giveaways and the top 5 chatters 🥇🥈🥉. Set the channel (and an optional role ping) on the Weekly Recap page. /recap shows the week so far.

Troubleshooting

Commands don't show up

Press Ctrl + R in Discord. New commands can take a minute to appear. Check the command isn't turned off on the Commands page.

"I can't give that role" / roles don't get added

Move Nova's role above the roles it should manage (Server Settings → Roles).

Nothing posts in a channel

Make sure Nova can view and send messages and embed links in it (check channel permission overrides).

Logs don't say who did something

Give Nova View Audit Log.

Nova doesn't answer in tickets

Switch on ✨ Nova answers first on the Tickets → Staff & ratings tab. It only applies to tickets opened after you switch it on. Fill in the Ask Nova knowledge so she has answers.

Ask Nova says she's not sure

The answer isn't in her knowledge. Add it to the knowledge box, upload a document, or approve learned answers. The Recent questions list shows what people ask.

Music won't play

Be in a voice channel Nova can join and speak in. YouTube and Spotify links aren't supported: search the song name instead.

Still stuck?

Ask in the Nova support server.
